Description

90-minute Outlook webinar
Presented by Frank Clark and Chip Hardwick

As the suicide rate reaches record highs and the headlines tell of celebrities who have taken their own lives, faith leaders are asking how the church can help those in the depths of depression and other mental illnesses. Surveys reveal that faith leaders are frequently the first contact for those considering suicide, and yet faith leaders often do not know what to say or how to get people the help they desperately need.

This webinar will help equip faith leaders talk about suicide from a theological and biblical perspective, addressing common misconceptions that are often painful to those already suffering. We will also approach the topic from a mental health perspective, considering warning signs that someone needs help and then giving tools for what kind of help is needed and how to find it.

Who should attend?

This webinar will help pastors, educators, youth leaders and anyone interested in learning more about suicide prevention.

Participants will be equipped:

  • To respond theologically and biblically to those considering suicide.
  • With resources for worship and prayer addressing mental illness.
  • To recognize warning signs of depression or potential suicidal behaviors.
  • With a plan for how to respond when someone comes for help and is feeling suicidal.
  • With resources for further reading and study.
